At this difficult time, considering leaving a gift in memory or creating a tribute page for your family and friends to contribute to in lieu of flowers, is a very special gift to those families still needing the care and support of our Ronald McDonald House Randwick (RMHR). Long after flowers have faded, donations in memory of a loved one live on.

Giving In Memory donations are valuable and positive ways to celebrate the life of a loved one. You can invite friends and family to make an online donation and leave a personal message to remember your loved one. Each online donation is recorded on your page along with any personalised messages. Your unique page URL can be used to let those close to you know where to go to leave a gift in memory.

A gift to RMHR is a very special way to remember and honour the life of a relative or friend. Families can often experience great financial hardship, as parents forgo work in order to care for their son or daughter. Your donation will be used to give support to families staying with us as they care for their seriously ill child.

Thank you for your very special gift.

Last year the Reid family lost their son Hunter from an aggressive brain tumour. Hear about how the Reid family remembered their beautiful son, Hunter, as they fundraised to help continue the work that we do.

A lasting legacy

What does it mean to leave a gift in your Will?

A Gift, or bequest, is an instruction you make in your Will, directing that some or all of your estate be gifted to a charity or particular cause. It can be in the form of money, property, shares and debentures, works of art or other valuables. You don’t have to be wealthy to make a bequest – whatever you choose to give will make a difference.

Leaving a gift to RMHR means you have the opportunity to do what perhaps you cannot during your lifetime. It is a wonderful way to continue making a positive, life-changing contribution to families who need it most. By leaving a gift you have the use of your funds or property during your lifetime but leave part or all of your money or property to the House after your death. You may choose to leave a particular asset or a specified sum of money to RMHR, or perhaps a percentage of your total estate or residue of your estate; ensuring family and friends are provided for as well as benefiting our House. Your solicitor or trustee company can help you with this.

Why should you choose Ronald McDonald House as a beneficiary?

RMHR is an independent not-for-profit organisation with the primary objective of providing a ‘home away from home’ style of accommodation that makes a significant contribution to seriously ill children and their families.

Your gift to RMHR will ensure we are able to continue to support families as they face one of the most challenging experiences in their lives.

If you wish to make a gift to RMHR in your Will, we recommend you obtain professional legal advice, so the words accurately and validly record your wishes.

If you are comfortable with telling us that you have included us in your Will we would appreciate the opportunity to thank you, whilst of course respecting your right to privacy.

Suggested wording to include in your Will:

“I give and bequeath [(the whole) or (a specific amount or gift) or (a percentage) or (the residue)] of my estate free of all duties to Ronald McDonald House Randwick of 149-151 Barker Street, Randwick, NSW 2031 for its general purpose and I declare that the receipt of its Treasurer or other authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge to my trustees or executor."
